The Pilates studio floor at Pyramid Physical Therapy & Pilates in San Antonio, TX

Rehab Aide Job in San Antonio, TX

No license required. A support role on the clinic floor for somebody who wants to see what physical therapy actually looks like before deciding whether to make it a career.

The job that makes every other job here possible.

Pyramid Physical Therapy & Pilates is one clinic at 4939 De Zavala Rd, Suite 103 in San Antonio, with private treatment rooms and a spacious Pilates studio. A room that is ready, a reformer that is set, clean linens and a patient walked in on time are what let a therapist give a full session of undivided attention.

This is a non-clinical support role. You do not treat patients, you do not instruct exercise, and you do not give clinical advice. What you do is remove friction for the clinical team all day long, and see more real outpatient orthopedic practice in a month than most people see in a year of shadowing.

Unglamorous, and completely load-bearing.

None of this is filler. Every item below is a thing that, left undone, costs a patient part of their session.

Prepare the rooms and the studio

Treatment rooms turned over between patients, the Pilates studio reset, and everything where the therapist expects to find it before the next session starts.

Set up equipment

Reformer springs, tower attachments, mats, bolsters, weights and bands staged for the plan the therapist is about to run. You will learn the equipment quickly because you handle it constantly.

Greet and escort patients

Walk people back, get them settled, and offer a steady arm to somebody working on balance. Many of our patients are managing falls risk, and the walk from the lobby matters.

Keep the clinic clean

Tables, equipment, linens and laundry, done to a standard you would want if you were the next person lying on that table.

Restock and track supplies

Notice what is running low before it runs out, and flag equipment that needs attention before it becomes a safety issue.

Take direction, and stay in scope

Pick up whatever the therapist or assistant hands you, and know exactly where your role stops. Clinical questions go to the clinician, every time, without exception.

Six things that actually matter here.

No license needed

There is no credential requirement for this role. Students considering a PT or PTA program are exactly the kind of person we want to hear from.

Physically able to do the work

You are on your feet, moving equipment, and lifting mats and weights for most of the day. It is an active job in an active building.

You notice things

An unwiped table, an empty sanitizer bottle, a patient standing in the lobby looking lost. The best aides fix these before anybody asks.

Respect for scope

You will be asked clinical questions by patients because you are the friendly face nearby. The correct answer is always to bring the therapist over.

Warmth with adults of every age

A lot of our patients are managing arthritis, chronic pain or balance problems. Patience and a calm manner count for more than speed.

Discretion

You will overhear things. Everything you see and hear in this building stays in this building. That is not negotiable in a healthcare setting.

A good place to find out if this is your field.

The pandemic put this clinic on the verge of closing in 2020. Dr. Cynthia Mendez, PT, DPT, OCS had been part of it since 2006 and bought the practice in 2021 rather than let it go. She trained here, learned the business from the owner who mentored her, and knows exactly what it is like to be the newest person in the building.

“Pyramid feels like a big family! We support and uplift each other.”

Bethany Roberts, PTA, NCPT, Physical Therapist Assistant

Careers in this field rarely start in a straight line. Bethany came here from professional ballet. Our owner certified in Pilates in 2008, was board certified in orthopedics in 2011, and finished her Doctorate in 2015. Nobody will look down on you for starting as the aide. The six values below are the clinic’s own published list.

Integrity

If a table did not get cleaned, you say so. Nobody is punished for the truth here, and everybody depends on it.

Gratitude

A 5.0 Google rating across 94+ reviews is built partly on a clinic that feels clean, calm and cared for. That part is yours.

Compassion

Somebody who is afraid of falling notices whether the person walking them back is paying attention. Be that person.

Perseverance

The room gets reset for the fourteenth time that day and it gets reset properly. That is the whole discipline of this role.

Humility

The owner does laundry and resets reformers too. Nothing in this building is beneath anybody, which cuts both ways.

Kindness

Ask questions. The clinical team will teach you if you show genuine interest, and that is the real compensation of an aide role.

Send us your resume.

There is no portal and no automated screener. If you do not have much of a resume yet, send what you have plus a short note about why you want to be in a physical therapy clinic. A person here reads it.

Questions about the role before you apply, including pay, schedule and benefits, are answered directly. Call the clinic and ask.
