Physical Therapist Assistant / Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher

I grew up in Hamilton, Texas (281 North), in a small town in central Texas of about 3,000 people, where life revolved around marching band, Friday night football, and the annual Dove Festival. In high school, my mother wholeheartedly supported my passion for dance. With limited opportunities for professional-level ballet training in rural Texas, she drove me weekly to train with the Ballet Ensemble of Texas in Coppell, allowing me to pursue serious training without uprooting our family. I was determined to become a professional ballet dancer and was selected for elite training programs with Ballet Magnificat!, Joffrey Ballet, and American Ballet Theatre (ABT) throughout my teenage years.

However, at 17—right in the middle of audition season—I broke my foot. Experiencing the rehabilitation process firsthand deepened my interest in movement science and ultimately led me to a career in Pilates and physical therapy. Best of all, I was able to return to dance.

My professional dance career included performing with Recked Productions, Sandra Organ Dance Company/Earthen Vessels, Muscle Memory Dance Theater, and Ad Deum Dance Company. Through these experiences, I had the opportunity to collaborate with artists from Martha Graham Dance Company, José Limón Dance Company, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Balleteatro Nacional de Puerto Rico, and Complexions Contemporary Ballet.

Some of my most meaningful experiences include performing for patients at MD Anderson Cancer Center, dancing in Sacred Dances at the Villa De Matel in Houston, and bringing Amahl and the Night Visitors to life with ASL-integrated choreography. I also had the privilege of teaching dance to children in Haifa, Israel as part of a collaboration with Beltway Park Church in Abilene, Texas.

Specialization:

I work with physical therapy patients as well as clients in our wellness programs, teaching private sessions, duets, and group Pilates Reformer classes. My specialty lies in precision and mindful movement, empowering others by focusing on small yet impactful changes that can transform strength, alignment, and overall well-being. If you’re committed to getting better, I will go above and beyond to support you on your journey!

I majored in dance at Sam Houston State University and became a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in 2016 after graduating from San Juan College’s Physical Therapist Assistant Program in New Mexico.

In 2020, when I moved to San Antonio, many PTs and PTAs faced job uncertainty. During this time, I transitioned into teaching dance including virtual instruction on Zoom—and began my training to become a Pilates instructor. I had the privilege of providing Pilates cross-training for pre-professional ballet students, helping them gain strength, control, and alignment, which contributed to their acceptance into prestigious programs and success at competitions like ADC/IBC, YAGP, and the Prix de Lausanne.

I completed the Balanced Body Comprehensive Pilates Instructor Training Program in 2021 under Master Instructor Chris Rhoades. In June 2024, I became a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT). I am passionate about helping patients and clients of diverse abilities improve their quality of life through the gift of movement. I firmly believes that Pilates is for every BODY.

I strive to help patients reduce pain, restore mobility, and gain confidence in movement so they can live more active, fulfilling lives.

Pyramid feels like a big family! We support and uplift each other, and it’s incredible to see so many women working so well together. All of my clients and patients inspire me everyday.

When I’m not working, I enjoy taking adult ballet classes, hot yoga, scrapbooking, hiking, and experiencing live music. My own personal Pilates practice is my happy place, and I absolutely love cats!

“Great staff, helped me recover post surgery from a pec tear in record time. Bethany tailored a plan specifically for me and my goals and let me (safely) push myself. I could not be more happy with this experience from what I thought would be a much longer/difficult process. Thank y’all so so much!”
