Sara Mejia
Physical Therapy Assistant
I was born and raised in Corpus Christi, TX. My parents put me in a variety of sports growing up but my passion for movement grew when I started junior roller derby as a teenager. Roller derby became my primary sport, through college. I later became one of the team captains of the adult roller derby team and helped coach the league and also played professionally on the state level. These sport responsibilities inspired me to study kinesiology in college. Upon graduating, I right away married a San Antonian- making San Antonio my new home where I was later accepted into the St. Philips PTA program.
During my clinical rotation I spent a short time in an inpatient facility and a couple outpatient facilities. Prior to my job at Pyramid I stayed home with my two small children for 5 years. Between pregnancies, I worked for a home health agency during my 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy.
Specialization:
I try my best to offer patients the tools to take control over their bodies again, in hopes to decrease pain, increase healing and strength.
Core Values:
- Loyalty
- Accountability
- Altruism
Reason to Love Working Here:
PILATES! Being introduced to the pilates PT world by Cyndi has been a dream come true. I truly believe our abdominal strengthening approach as well as the 1:1 patient to Therapist ratio is hands down the best care I have seen in an outpatient clinic throughout my career. The pilates equipment is a huge plus as it limits risk of injury when used correctly.
Conditions Sarah Mejia Enjoys Treating:
I enjoy treating a variety of conditions, all deserve a chance to improve their lives with movement and I’m honored to help anyone.
Patient Care Concerns:
Feeling uncomfortable or discouraged at therapy.
Favorites:
- Narcos and The Last of Us (TV hows)
- The Silent Patient (Books)
- Nacho Libre (Movies)
- I also enjoy a lot of sci-fi and psycho thrillers books and movies.
When I’m not working:
Being with my husband and two little kids. Our hobbies together are endless but some of my favorites are roller skating, swimming, weight lifting, drawing, and any excuse to get artsy and creative whether duty calls for a home DIY project to tailoring a thrifted pair of jeans.
